I just spent the last two days making this blog.
Even if no one has any reason to read this, I consider it a good excersize in web-design if nothing else. Really, that's what this whole website is. Plus I couldn't stand Squarespace™ anymore. I enjoy building things in new frameworks, and I like how much control I get over the website this way. Setting up this blogpost format has been good practice in css. I've been heavily referencing this site I found looking for blogs on Neocities for this. I like its style.
This site is supposed to be my portfolio, but I also want it to be kind of fun... I haven't really figured out how to reconcile those two things yet, but I've been enjoying learning HTML and CSS. Also JavaScript, though I had my brother write the script that populates the tables in Games and Music from JSON. I rewrote it a little bit for the script that generates this blog's homepage, but I was kind of just following along. I'm sure I'll get better at it eventually. It's not like I'm a bad programmer. I usually just stop when I get to anything that has to do with memory or pointers.
Actually, on that note, I've been going way more in depth in Lua recently for an idea I had. Well, and for Onion Future. I'm using Love2D for my idea, and Onion Future is on the Playdate, and they both kind of use Lua differently. Or rather, they're just different libraries, so I have to do things differently in each one. Which has actually been great. I feel like my Lua skill has improved dramatically over the last 3 weeks.
Anyways, this blog doesn't use a static site generator. I'm like, writing this into an HTML file, and then I'll enter the post info into a JSON file. I... don't think that's the best way to do things, but I looked around and I didn't like/get the available options. And the snake site I was referencing made their own static site generator. So... I'm just doing this for now. If anyone has any tips, let me know. Oh wait, there's not really a way for you to do that. My brother's site has a guestbook. I'll ask him to make me one maybe.
Oh, what I should really be doing is... looking... for a...... job...
Signing off for the first time,
Michael
