Eel Life
A game for the Jam-o-Drum, which has 4 drum-like buttons and a big spinner surrounding a table. Sound design is interesting on this platform because the spinners and drum buttons themselves make a lot of noise that has to be accounted for. The bubbly aquatic theme was a lot of fun to design sound and write music for.
Dealing with Noise
Eel Life’s biggest issue with sound was the amount of noise the platform made. Especially with a game that required the players to hit it so constantly. As such, all the sounds in the game had to be tested frequently on the actual platform outside of Unity, and had to be mixed with a high frequency emphasis, so they would cut through the noise.
